About Us

I have always had a sincere fascination with tiny babies and been completely intrigued by pregnancy. Teaching and guidance have always come naturally to me.

Besides being a mother to two gorgeous little boys, who are my world, I am a certified member of the International Association of Infant Massage, a Birth Doula and teach holistic type birth preparation classes based on the principals of BIRTHING FROM WITHIN(c).

After the birth of my first little boy 7 years ago, I realised that what we lacked most in our birthing and new mommy environment was support. I became passionate in researching and learning how I could best offer support to new mothers as, for me, being a first time mom seemed like such a lonely experience, not at all how I had imagined it to be. I then had my second little boy who is now 4 years old, and although I was more confident as a mother, I still felt overwhelmed and never quite knew who to call or who to turn to. That was when a close and inspirational friend introduced me to the world of Doulas and I knew that I had found my calling in life.

My Family

I completed my Doula course in March 2008 after which my focus has revolved around furthering my knowledge on pregnancy, birth and parenting. In September of that year I attended a beginners Doula training course with Amsterdam based midwife and professional doula, acupuncturist and pregnancy specialist Jacky Bloemraad – de Boer whose teachings included many skillful techniques used to aid and support late pregnancy, natural inductions, optimal foetal positioning, acupressure during labour, pelvic floor release, cupping, rebozo and other techniques to comfort mothers during their labours. Since then I completed Jacky’s advanced course in November 2010 furthering my knowledge of birth and labour techniques for doulas and midwives.

In February 2009, I attended an introductory course to BIRTHING FROM WITHIN(c) and knew then that I wanted to become a BIRTHING FROM WITHIN(c) childbirth mentor and childbirth educator. Eager to continue my education I attended a 3 day Lactation Management Course in September 2009 with Brenda Pierce and Brenda Campbell, both highly respected International Lactation Consultants working in South Africa. In mid 2010 the Southern African doulas association, DOSA – Doulas of Southern Africa, was founded of which I am a board member.

But, whilst continuing my studies of pregnancy, labour and birth, there was still a lack of support for mothers after the birth of their babies. I felt desperate for first time mothers who found themselves in such an unfamiliar place as motherhood. I wanted to teach mothers how to bond with their babies, how to understand them more and how to be more patient and enjoy those first few precious months which go by so quickly. I completed my infant massage instructors training through the International Association of Infant Massage in April 2009 and have been teaching infant massage to “new” and “old” mothers since then. It is a blessing to be able to pass this precious tool over to mothers and see the endless benefits it brings to them and their babies.

It is my passion to support women through their pregnancy, childbirth and post partum, empowering them with knowledge and tools that will ensure a powerful, fulfilling, guilt-free experience, no matter what the outcome is.
